Abbas Kiarostami is an Iranian film director, screenwriter, poet, and photographer, one of the leaders of the Iranian New Wave. This book is based on notes taken by British film scholar Paul Cronin during the director's master classes. Kiarostami reflects on the relationship between cinema and reality, on the artificiality of montage, on film and digital shooting, on non-professional actors. A master of poetic, «unfinished» cinema, Kiarostami considers poetry to be the foundation of all art, and photography – a form of meditation.
